Bushfire on Long Swamp Road, Friday afternoon
A bushfire was reported on Friday, July 13, at 3.24pm, at the Long Swamp Road, Galloway.
Approximately 2500 square metres were burnt.
NSW fire investigators and NSW police are investigating the matter, and say they have some leads.
Bushfire in Seaton Street, Sunday afternoon
A second fire broke out in Seaton Street on Sunday, 15 July.
Police were patrolling Galloway Street at 12pm when they noticed smoke coming from the industrial area.
They discovered a bushfire at the end of the cul-de-sac off Seaton Street.
The fire was well alight, covering approximately 500 square metres.
The NSW rural fire brigade extinguished the fire.
Police are treating both fires as suspicious.
"We're appealing to anyone that's seen anything suspicious or anyone acting suspiciously in those areas around those times to please let us know," said Inspector Matt Hemsworth.
Torched car, Sunday afternoon
A burning car was found on the Donnelly Street bridge, towards UNE, at 1.45am on Sunday, July 15.
The car was stolen during the evening of Friday, July 13, from an address on Norris Drive.
The NSW Rural Fire Service extinguished the fire.
“Police are investigating the matter, and are following a number of lines of inquiry,” Inspector Hemsworth said.
