The NSW Resource Regulator paid a surprise visit to 16 sites, handing out a total of 27 enforcement actions to six sites, comprising 18 prohibition notices, five improvement notices and four notices of concern.
Notices prohibiting certain activities where there is a risk to health and safety were issued to Runnymede Quarry in Moree, Gunnedah Quarry Products and Willow Tree Gravels.
“The major concerns addressed with the prohibition notices related to the operation of mobile plant, a lack of fall protection and rollover protection on mobile plant, and inadequate guarding on equipment and machinery,” a spokesperson said.
“These sub-standard practices are very disappointing.”
