Jason Jordan Trindall is charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon.
The 27-year-old lodged a fresh bid for bail in Tamworth Local Court on Thursday morning but it was denied by Acting Magistrate Mal MacPherson.
Trindall was ordered into the custody of Corrective Services NSW and has been ordered to reappear in court in August, after investigators have compiled a brief of evidence in the case.
He was arrested by Oxley detectives about 1.30pm on Wednesday.
Police will allege Trindall grabbed a 62-year-old shopkeeper during the robbery, about 5.25pm on Monday at the Hillvue Superette, before stealing the cash register and its contents.
Two teenage boys, 13 and 17, arrested in police raids in Coledale on Tuesday night have been granted conditional bail on robbery in company charges.
They will reappear in court in June.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT
A MAN and two teenage boys have been been charged after Monday night’s robbery at the Hillvue Superette in Tamworth.
The 27-year-old man was arrested by Oxley police about 1.30pm on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after a 17 and 13-year-old were arrests in raids in West Tamworth on Tuesday night.
Police said the man was charged with robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon in company.
He was refused bail to front Tamworth court on Thursday.
“Police will allege while he was in the premises he armed himself with an implement and used that during the course of the offence,” Oxley Chief Inspector Phil O’Reilly said.
“He took a cash drawer from the business and that cash drawer has not yet been recovered.”
The teenagers are charged with robbery in company and were granted conditional bail in an out-of-sessions bail hearing on Wednesday.
Chief Inspector O’Reilly said “police will be taking actions” to enforce their bail conditions until they return to court in June.
“There were extensive investigations on the evening of the robbery and police were in attendance quickly,” Chief Inspector O’Reilly said.
“There were a number of suspects who were identified by police in the vicinity.
“Detectives were able to review good quality CCTV footage from the premises [on Tuesday] and that assisted police.”

Police will allege the 27-year-old man grabbed a 62-year-old shopkeeper during the robbery, about 5.25pm on Monday, before stealing the cash register and its contents.
Police also praised the public help from locals that enabled them to track down the offenders.
”I do thank those members of the comm who did provide some assistance that assisted us to progress the investigation,” Chief Inspector O’Reilly said.
He assured the community there were “a number of operations continuing in the South Tamworth area” to target crime and known offenders.
“There are increased taskings in those hot spot areas in South Tamworth and West Tamworth,” he said, adding businesses could contact the Oxley crime prevention team to get help on how to prevent a robbery in their premises.
“Good quality CCTV is important for investigations,” he said.
He said good quality CCTV could not only be used as evidence but was “also a deterrent”.
“That CCTV needs to be accessible to investigators quickly,” Chief Inspector O’Reilly said.
“Our crime prevention team can provide advice to businesses.”
