Acting regional mayor Helen Tickle bestowed the group with freedom of entry to the city, a ceremonial honour that evokes medieval walled cities.
The sub-branch then marked its centenary with a service at Tamworth War Memorial Town Hall, at which president Bob Chapman was presented with a life membership to the RSL of Australia, recognising his dedication and service to the organisation.
That night, there was a semi-formal dinner for almost 80 guests.
It was the same day Tamworth Young Veterans unveiled a memorial for those who served more recently.
The Post 1973 Memorial is dedicated to Australian Defence Force personnel who have served since that year and now sits alongside the war memorials in Railway Park.
