Tamworth police are investigating the suspicious house fire in Kenny Drive, Coledale

Fire and Rescue NSW crews from West Tamworth and the city brigade were deployed to the blaze which erupted in Kenny Drive about 11.30pm on Friday.

The blaze quickly took hold of the fibro house, which is believed to have had no one living in it at the time.

A spokesperson for Fire and Rescue NSW said the blaze was extinguished after an hour. 

“On arrival the house was well alight, and after confirming that there were no residents in the building, crews conducted offensive firefighting to quickly bring the blaze under control,” the spokesperson said.

“Fire control was achieved within the first five minutes, with full extinguishment within an hour.

“There was no danger or damage to surrounding property.

“Crews worked together to render the site safe and within two hours the house was able to be handed over to police.”

Police are treating the blaze as suspicious and are calling for anyone with information, or who might have seen suspicious activity in Kenny Drive on Friday night, to come forward.
