Ben Burrage’s trip to Thailand was a pretty successful one.
And while he doesn’t have any trophies to show for it, he’s got one lasting reminder from the trip.
Seven stitches above his right eye.
“In the first round, I walked into this head kick,” kickboxer Burrage said of his final fight during his trip to Thailand.
“He sort of tripped and I thought he was going backwards.
“I’ve come forward and – boom – he threw the kick up.”

The shot to the head resulted in seven stitches for Burrage but it didn’t end his fight.
“I just knew I had to close the gap, lock the grapple on,” Burrage said.
The kickboxer did just that and kept going to turn the fight around and stop it in the third round.
Burrage spent six weeks in Thailand training and fighting.
His first fight came a week after he landed in the country and then fought just a week later after another fighter pulled out.
“I was just coming off a fight so I was fit and I wasn’t that injured. I managed to stop old mate [in his first bout] in the second round,” Burrage said.
Burrage then had a two-week break after his second win before his third and final fight.
Burrage said he’d come a long way in the ring over the past year.
“I thought I did because the first bloke I fought beat me over a year ago,” Burrage said. “To beat him – and stop him – that’s pretty good.”
