The national event is an opportunity for all Australian primary school children to learn about protecting the environment and help clean up local rubbish before it sullies our precious parks, bushland, waterways and oceans.
According to Ian Kiernan AO, chairman and founder of Clean Up Australia, participating in 2018 Schools Clean Up Day is the perfect way to educate young Australians about the responsible disposal of rubbish and the repercussions of rubbish dumped irresponsibly in the local environment.
“Signing up for 2018 Schools Clean Up Day shows students that they can take action and that lots of small acts like picking up litter can contribute to reducing the amount of rubbish choking our oceans and waterways,” Mr Kiernan said.
“We can all play our part in our communities by caring for our local environment.”
“Schools Clean Up Day encourages young people to be custodians of their environment from an early age.”
The official Clean Up Australia Day for the community is on this Sunday.
