The 27-year-old senior constable is alleged to have gone to a Tamworth home while off-duty about 3am on January 22, where two assaults occurred.
The incidents were reported to officers attached to Oxley Police District on January 25.
The officer is from the western policing region, which stretches to the Queensland border in the north and to the South Australia border in the west.
It’s not yet clear where he was based, though, and police were unable to give The Leader any further details today.
Police said an investigation immediately commenced after the incident was reported.
After extensive inquiries and the execution of a search warrant, the man was arrested at a property in the Canobolas Shire.
He was taken to Dubbo Police Station, where he was charged with sexual intercourse without consent and assault with act of indecency.
He has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Dubbo Local Court on April 18.
The officer has been suspended.
