Old Boys beat North Tamworth with one ball to spare in a classic one-day encounter at No.1 Oval on Saturday.

Amit Kumar hit a boundary off the second-last delivery of the innings as Old Boys reached 7-193 in pursuit of 8-189.
Old Boys opener Simon Norvill said: “It was a really good wicket and the outfield was really good … so I thought we did pretty well to keep them to 189.”

After winning the toss, North Tamworth’s innings was built on the efforts of opener Lachlan Fauchon (47), No.3 Glenn Lewington (34) and No.4 Evan Brownsmith (38). Don Lewington chipped in with a valuable 32-ball 29.
However there was a momentum swing when Norths lost Brownsmith, Don Lewington and Peter Watson (0) with the score on 160.
Three Old Boys bowlers captured two wickets – Joshua Worpel (2-19 off four overs), Jack Richards (2-29 off eight overs) and Mitchell Swain (2-45 off six overs).
In reply, Norvill blasted a 31-ball 44 that included 10 fours. Old Boys lost their first wicket at 30, when skipper Ben Middlebrook fell for a 19-ball duck.
Adam Lole then came in and complied an 83-ball 61 that was built on 11 boundaries.
Richards (38 not out) partnered Kumar at the end of the innings.
Lincoln Peters snared 4-36 off eight overs and Watson grabbed 3-24 off eight.
