Four new police officers set to hit the beat in Tamworth for Oxley police

The four new male probationary constables will be posted to the Oxley command and stationed in Tamworth as they start their new careers.

Oxley Acting Superintendent Jeff Budd said the four new officers will start 12 months of on-the-job training from next week as they complete their studies.

He said the officers will hit the ground running with experienced policeman and women as they learn the ropes in the Tamworth community.

“The four new probationary constables will arrive next week and we will start the process of turning them into good policemen,” Acting Superintendent Budd told The Leader.

“The officers are replacing vacant positions within the Oxley command so that’s four sets of extra boots on the ground in 2018 to bring us back up to strength.”

The ‘Class 332’ will be marched out of the NSW Police Academy during an official ceremony in Goulburn in front of the NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller, Acting Superintendent Budd and other dignitaries on Friday morning.

In December, Oxley police missed out on a new wave of constables after the officers were posted to Barwon and New England.
