Strike Force Delaney: Travis James Wilson refused bail in Tamworth on firearm supply; Oxley police charge 27-year-old woman with ice supply

Tamworth detectives arrested the 27-year-old woman in Coonabarabran as part of investigations by Strike Force Delaney – an undercover operation set-up to smash an alleged drug ring operating out of Tamworth.

The woman was charged on Thursday night with five counts of supplying methylamphetamine, or ice, with investigators alleging she supplied 45g of ice across Western NSW earlier this year.

Police allege the drug supplied had an estimated street value of $45,000.

The woman was charged in Coonabarabran and released on strict conditional bail to front court later this month.

“Police will allege in court this woman was actively involved in the supply of methylamphetamine across Western NSW,” Oxley Detective Sergeant Jason Darcy told The Leader.

“The woman is the eighth person of interest charged by investigators from Strike Force Delaney.

“In total, police have laid 64 charges against eight persons including drugs, firearms and proceeds of crime offences as part of the operation.

“The operation has seen drugs, cash, phones and other goods seized and has had a significant impact on the supply of prohibited drugs in Western NSW.”

The operation – launched by Oxley Rural Crime officers as well as the local Target Action Group (TAG) – originally targeted the rodeo scene and rural crime before the net widened.

Last week, investigators charged Travis James Wilson in Tamworth, alleging he supplied a gun to a co-accused who was unauthorised to possess it.

Wilson, 25, allegedly supplied a revolver between June 1 and 30 at Woolomin to Benjamin Woodard, who was one of the first charged with drug supply as part of the police operation.

According to court documents, Wilson was charged with the single firearm offence as well as an outstanding arrest warrant, triggering a show cause bail application in Tamworth Local Court this week.

Magistrate Roger Prowse refused bail and found it was a strong Crown case. He found Wilson had not shown cause and was an unacceptable risk of endangering the safety of the community.
