North Tamworth skipper Brendan Rixon struck an unbeaten century at almost a run a ball to guide the Redbacks to a comfortable one-day win over City United at Riverside 2.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, opener Rixon was unbeaten on 124 off 128 balls as Norths reached 2-262 off 40 overs on Saturday.
Rixon’s brother, Michael, was the second top scorer with 61, while Lincoln Peters was 41 not out.
In reply, City were bowled out for 164 in 37 overs.
Alex Roseby produced the best figures for Norths – 3-38 off five overs – with good support coming from Michael Rixon (2-29 off eight overs) and Brad Redshaw (2-33 off six overs).
Michael Rixon said it was good to see his brother spend time in the middle scoring freely. He struck 10 fours and six sixes.
“Once he got going he hit some pretty good shots,” Michael said.
“He needed a long innings to try and get himself back to his old safe a little bit.”
Along with his brother’s sparkling innings, Michael highlighted the Redbacks executing their game plan as another big positive.
He believes that Norths’ comfortable win over City United in a Twenty20 season opener at No.1 Oval on Friday night gave the side a boost the following day.
City reached 5-129 off 20 overs on Friday, with Norths reaching the target in the 18th over for the loss of three wickets. Michael finished on 63 not out.
He said: “We’re still not at full strength … We’re not sure what our best 11 or 12 is yet.
“That will probably be determined over the next few months.”
