The event, celebrating it’s 10th year, is the major fundraiser for the Manilla Voluntary Rescue Association and president Jerod Sutherland said it “basically keeps us on the road”.
While up to 1000 people past through the doors over the two days, Mr Sutherland said that number was down from previous years.
Despite the smaller crowd, there were still some rare treasures to be found, with celebrity antique dealer Gordon Brown on hand to evaluate them.
Mr Brown, best know for starring in ABC’s Collectors, has been an antique dealer for nearly 50 years.
Mr Sutherland said he “has an incredible working knowledge of antiques across all periods”.
His pick of the evaluations was a local women’s gold-veined quartz pendent valued at up to $4000.
Another women had Mr Brown take a look at man’s silver pocket watch from 1877. Mr Sutherland said while the watch was 140 years old and in good condition, it was only valued at around $400 because “no one wears a waist coat to hold a pocket watch in any more”.
[The fair] basically keeps us on the road.
