They say it’s the little things that count – and quite frankly ‘they’ couldn’t be more right.

Too often we take things for granted – like being able to afford ‘life’s little luxuries’.
That’s where a particular campaign is aiming to raise awareness.
It’s called Share the Dignity and it has a particular purpose in mind.
Share the Dignity’s second sanitary drive for 2017 kicked off on August 1 and will run through until the end of this month.
It’s based on the premise that no woman should have to chose between eating or buying sanitary products.
As the campaign suggests it’s a fairly simple way to give women back their ‘dignity’.
Since it was launched in 2015 the campaign has gone nationwide.
It helps some of the most vulnerable people in our society; the victims of domestic violence and homelessness, and women and young girls in dire poverty, who simply can’t afford those little ‘luxuries’.
Every item donated during the drive in August will be collected, sorted, and sent to services that directly support women and girls in need.
There are a number of local collection points – for more information head to https://www.sharethedignity.com.au/collectionpoints.html and see how you can help.
Meantime, another campaign is gathering pace in Tamworth too.
It’s called Tamworth Mums.
The group aims to help mothers/families in need, for whatever reason – by making sure they have the basics.
Everything from bassinets to car seats, and formula to clothing, books, blankets, highchairs and much, much more – it all goes a very long way to keeping our kids safe and warm.
Again, they are the items many of us take for granted and probably still have sitting around the house – gathering dust.
There’s no judgement, the families are referred for assistance by Tamworth Family Support Services, who also do an amazing job.
As for Tamworth Mums – they have regular donation days and you can find them on Facebook if you have some items you think they might be able to rehome.
We are a generous community – that’s been proven time and time again – and that’s why campaigns like these always do well.
