Bundarra Central School continues to punch above its weight in sporting success as the 111-strong student body prepares to send another of its stars into state competition.

Kimberely O’Donnell has been selected for the Open Girls NSW Combined High Schools (NSWCHS) touch football team due to compete in the state’s All Schools competition in Caloundra from September 12 to 16.
The 16 year-old student was chosen “as a result of excelling” in the NSW regional finals in June where she and six other Bundarra school mates – Selena Lansborough, Paige Vickery, Irene Hickman, Shanae Vickery, Breony Vickery and Zoe Blair – made up half of the Open Girls North West competition team.
“This is an outstanding result from a school with just over 100 students from Kindergarten to Year 12,” Bundarra Central School teacher Nigel Henley said.
Kimberley was selected from a “competitive” field and “is currently in intensive training” for the Open CHS team who will take on the Catholic and Independent schools combined teams, Mr Henley said.
Bundarra’s boys have also done well this year with 18-year-old Brent O’Donnell chosen to compete on the Open Boys North West side in June.
“His coach was very pleased with his teamwork, commitment and leadership role within the team,” Mr Henley said.
The school has also had success in cross country with Jarad Masterson, 18, placing third at the North West trials which gained him entry to the Eastern Creek competition last month.
