The Namoi region is being promoted as an attractive place to invest for both international and domestic markets in a brand new document which was launched this week.

The seven members of the Namoi Councils Joint Organisation, including Tamworth, Gunnedah, Gwydir, Narrabri, Liverpool Plains, Uralla and Walcha councils, met at Auscott Limited in Narrabri on Friday, May 12 to launch the Namoi Region Investment Prospectus.
The document showcases the diverse range of agricultural commodities and agribusinesses within the region.
“It’s a way for us to show all of Australia, the domestic market, but also internationally, the many riches that are in our region,” Gunnedah mayor Jamie Chaffey said.
“In agriculture, the products that we produce that are in high quantity and quality as we look to China and other parts of the world where food security is very important.
“This is a way for us to connect with those markets and get that message out there about just how good the food is that we produce in this area.”
Asia, and in particular China, is one of the key target markets for the investment prospectus and, as a result, the document was printed in English and in Mandarin and has been released in China.
“Part of this project is to secure the branding of our regional product in China,” Tamworth mayor Col Murray said.
“You name it, we produce it here around this region and it’s in high demand in China,” Cr Chaffey added.
The investment propesctus has been two years in the making and is one of the major projects of the Namoi JO, which sees the benefits of all seven councils working together to capitalise on their collective strengths.
“As a group, as an entire region, any interest that does come internationally, or even domestically, there will be a certain part within our region that can satisfy any market and together we have the ability to work together as councils to achieve the absolute most for our region,” Cr Chaffey said.
Parliamentary Secretary for Deputy Premier John Barilaro, Bronnie Taylor MLC attended the launch and said it’s great to see local government areas working together as a region.
“This is one of the best examples of how fantastic it is when local government work together,” she said.
