Luke Borg appeared in Inverell Local Court on two charges stemming from a head-on crash that killed a man just before Easter, north of Inverell.
He was not required to enter pleas to the charges of dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.
Magistrate Michael O’Brien adjourned the case to allow investigators to compile a brief of evidence and serve it on the 23-year-old’s defence before the case returns to court in June.
Borg remains on bail and is prohibited from occupying the driver’s seat of any motor vehicle in NSW.
Police allege he was on the incorrect side of the road when his black Jeep Patriot, headed north, collided head-on with a Mazda utility on April 12.
The crash occurred on the Mount Hallam Rd at Atholwood, near Ashford, about 7.15am, and claimed the life of the 59-year-old utility driver from Texas in Queensland.
