The Tamworth boxer, who only returned to the ring a couple of years ago, was awarded the 56-60kg title by walkover after his only two potential opponents were two weight divisions higher.
“It’s not a good way to win a title,” Hall said.
But he understood the reasoning.
“I’m 58kg and they were 69kg so they were 11kg heavier. They deemed it wasn’t right to put in a lighter weight,” he said.
He was one of two that didn’t get to fight on the night.
“It was disappointing because I’d trained for eight weeks,” Hall said.
“I was all revved up. I’d had a pretty good preparation.”
His next focus is the Victorian masters title early in October, and then later in the month the “Golden Gloves for old fellas”.
“They don’t call them the golden gloves, they call them the olden gloves,” he said.
