Routine tests carried out on Friday afternoon showed chlorine levels in the water has risen past accepted guidelines.
“A test this afternoon indicated rising levels of chlorine, and the chlorine pump was found to be malfunctioning, at which point the decision was made to temporarily close the facility,” A Tamworth Regional Council spokesperson said.
“Council will check the operation of the chlorine pump and continue to monitor the water and as soon as the levels are within guidelines, the pool will re-open.”
The council spokesperson said chlorine levels were checked regularly during the day.
All other pools in the region remain open.
