A Rural Fire Service volunteer suffered a “mild case of smoke inhalation” and was treated at the scene by paramedics on Tuesday evening, Liverpool Range RFS Inspector Tim Butcher said.
It’s understood a NSW Fire and Rescue officer was taken to hospital for observation with a leg injury, but was later released.
The fire saw six fire crews called to the scene, including two from the NSW Fire and Rescue to assist their rural colleagues.
Inspector Butcher said he was proud of the efforts of fire crews, who spent much of the night at the scene to monitor the blaze.
Members of the public showed their support to fire crews, by providing them food as they fought the blaze.
“The community spirit really came into force from the efforts of the volunteers and the local community,” Inspector Butcher said.
“This is a devastating loss for the small rural community.”
