CH on Peel owner Jye Segboer was recently elected to head up the organisation and is keen to take a step away from “the way it’s always been done”.
“We felt the chamber needed a different direction into the future – an approach that is reflective of our business community,” Mr Segboer said.
“The future looks bright for Tamworth and the region, and we need to look at how we can better service the needs of our growing business community.”
Mr Segboer has big plans to revamp the Tamworth Quality Business Awards, changing the judging process and the way nominations are received.
“Businesses will receive a copy of the judges’ report, so they know how to benchmark themselves against other businesses,” he said.
“Rather than just turning up on the night and finding out the winner, their copy of the report will give them an edge in terms of why they didn’t win and real feedback.”
While it’s Mr Segboer’s first time as president, he’s been a long time member of the chamber, serving on the board from 2010 to 2014, then again in 2016.
“It’s an exciting time, everywhere you look people are investing money in local businesses,” he said.
“I’m only two weeks into the role, so there is still a lot of research to do.
“In the new year, we’ll have a new direction.”
