Hamilton’s victory came just days after former club pro Terry Hayes daughter Natalie Studte took out her third title with back to back victories after also blitzing the large ladies field finishing last week.
Current club pro Scott Roworth said the two events had seen some great golf played on a course that was in top condition after a couple of months with plenty of rain.
Played over four rounds every year the ladies holed perfect conditions on all four days as Studte and playing partner Michelle Johnston lead all the way until Studte pulled away in the last two rounds to complete a 13 shot victory 10 years after her first championship.
Hamilton was always in control of the men’s competition however, shooting to an early lead on the opening two round weekend, before finishing two over to be nine shots in front after the tournament was reduced to three rounds due to last Saturday’s down fall.
The champion said that consistency was the key to the victory, although whichever way the golf went there was no chance of dampening his spirits as he looks forward to his nuptials in a few weeks time.
“The course is in great nick and I come down a couple of times a week to play,” Hamilton said.
“It is great to win a third championships here.”
“I have to thank Skye (Furneaux) – she is great and we are getting married in a few weeks which I am obviously pretty happy about.”
“Also my sons Jack and Harrison and my step daughter Millie.”
Hamilton’s third club championship comes after winning his first in 2012, and now gives him a full set after also taking out three at his former club in Brisbane befoe moving to Tamworth some years ago.
“It is a great club with great mates and I just enjoy playing here,” Hamilton said.
“We will have to see if I can do it again next year.”
Tom Gill claimed the runner-up trophy nine shots off the lead with 220 from 56 holes, one shot in front of John Trevaskis in third.
