Running for about 17 years, the Tamworth Lions book drive is the major annual fundraiser for the community groups, raising thousands for local charities.
Tamworth Lions Club president Glen Myhill said there has been about six weeks of preparation for the sale, which he anticipated would be “one of the biggest ever”.
“Including all of the magazines and little kids’ books, we have about 7000 books and magazines,” Mr Myhill said.
“It’s been a really big response, we’ve been flooded.”
The Lions have chosen to donate their proceeds from the sale to the Tamworth Ronald McDonald House.
In previous years, the sale has supported the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Camp Quality.
Mr Myhill said the group wanted to focus on keeping funds raised in the Tamworth region.
The committed group of Lions will continue the ongoing preparations ahead of Saturday’s scheduled kickoff.
The book sale will be set up at 65 Plain St in Taminda, in between Motor Co and Grab ‘n’ Gobble.
The sale begins on Saturday, October 15.
People will be able to get in and grab a book-bargain from 8am to 5pm until Sunday, October 23.
While Tamworth Lions has been inundated with book donations, locals looking to contribute are encouraged to deliver the books straight to the Plain St base.
