Over 200 competitors are expected to battle it out over the two day event for a share of the $15,000 worth of prizes and prize money on offer.
The titles will be contested by entrants locally and across NSW and will test their skills in horsemanship and cattle sense.
Team Penning requires a team of three riders in an arena with 30 head of cattle, identified by different coloured collars.
The team have to work against the clock with a 90 second time limit to separate the assigned colour in groups of three from the mob and pen into a small yard at the other end of the arena.
Not such an easy task when you have 30 colour coded cattle wanting to follow their mate in front who just happens to be sporting a different coloured collar to the one you are attempting to pen.
The Tamworth Club has been enjoying monthly club days in the Tamworth District since 1998.
It has grown exponentially over the years, attracting horse ball competitors, camp drafters, station hands, mums, dads and kids with competitors travelling 100's of kilometres to compete at monthly club days.
Tamworth Team Penning Association President Mr Brian Penrose said, “I can see it being a great weekend, with plenty of action and excitement as the best of the best go head to head in the final on the Sunday afternoon,” Tamworth Team Penning Association president Brian Penrose said.
