For safety reasons, much of the work needs to be carried out during the day and Telstra says both consumer and businesses customers will be effected.
The company’s area general manager Michael Morgan said the technicians would work “sector by sector” where possible, so not all services were down at the same time.
“As this upgrade work needs to be carried out during daylight hours, for health and safety reasons, our technicians will need to switch off some sectors which support mobile services in these areas,” Mr Morgan said.
“However, every effort will be made to reduce the impact to our customers.
“We will look to start work as early as possible on the upgrade days in order to minimise the impact to residents.
“We understand this is an inconvenience and we thank residents for their patience, as the upgrades will provide longer term improvements to services in the area for our customers.”
The work is expected to be finished by Friday, August 12. The service outages may also impact the region surrounding Walcha.
