Walcha Council has won the battle to stand alone.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson shared the state government's verdict as council amalgamation decisions were revealed at Macquarie St on Thursday morning.
Mayor Janelle Archdale said “A BIG thank you to our wonderful community for their enormous efforts in assisting us with the fight for NO amalgamations over the last four years.
"Through the Fit for the Future process Council have been able to prove that we are financially viable and have made financial improvements to ensure our future sustainability.
"Though the process has been difficult at times, we the Council and the community of Walcha, have become stronger.”

"We would never have got to this point without their full support and understanding.”
