The annual Brain Foundation Christmas Fair gallops into the Tamworth Racecourse on Sunday, with new stalls offering a variety of gifts that will surprise and delight when unwrapped on the big day.
The family can enjoy the cool, green gardens of the Tamworth Racecourse while listening to live music from CJ Langers and food and coffee to keep shoppers happy and refreshed.
Every year the fair raises thousands of dollars, which are donated directly to an Australian scientist conducting research on the brain. The Brain Foundation provides funding to scientists who have applied for grants into improved treatment of diseases such as dementia and Parkinson’s, or better care after a stroke or brain injury.
Brain Foundation Tamworth committee president Pip Warner said the community would find unique gifts at the fair to give to their loved ones at Christmas.
“They are unique stalls and all there in one cluster,” she said.
“People are very generous and they are not only shopping for Christmas but also supporting the Brain Foundation.”
The dedicated local committee members will have their own stall at the fair, where dozens of homemade cakes, biscuits and other treats will be on offer, with Christmas puddings and fruitcakes a specialty this year.
One of the most popular stalls is the raffle table with prizes on offer worth $200 to $2000, including flights to Brisbane and tickets to shows at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, as well as meet-and-greets with artists.
“Our supporters have been very, very generous with prizes,” Mrs Warner said.
The fun of the fair will run from 9am to 3pm on Sunday.
