Paul Victor Cox, better known as Coxy, passed away peacefully at Tamworth hospital last Friday.
He’d been noticeably losing weight and had been unwell for some time prior to his death.
A familiar sight in Peel St, he would ask passersby at random for a couple of dollars or a cigarette,.
His recent absence from the CBD had been noticed by many and had led to some unsubstantiated and obviously premature stories of his passing.
But the news has now been confirmed.
He was privately cremated.
Mr Cox was 68.
