Construction of the new $4 million structure is now in the final stages, with the concrete pour for the bridge deck finished last week.
The new two-lane bridge is on track to be completed by June 12, which will allow Uralla Shire Council crews to recommence work on the 1.6km of road approaches at both ends.
Weather permitting, the bridge should be open to traffic by September.
The current single lane crossing was built in 1919 and is regularly closed during minor flooding, resulting in a 95km detour for road users.
Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said the local community had been seeking a new bridge for more than 70 years and as early as 1935, the then Gostwyck Shire Council began making representations to the state government for financial assistance to replace the existing bridge.
