A NUMBER of roads have been closed in the Tamworth area after widespread rainfall soaked the city and surrounds.

Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) confirmed on Tuesday morning there are changed conditions for traffic in various spots due to the wet weather.
Drivers are warned to obey road closure signs and not enter flood waters, a TRC spokesman said.
"With between 25mm to 35mm of rain falling around Tamworth ... flows in local waterways are up and more road closures are expected," he said.
The side track around Benama Bridge on Old Wallabadah Road is closed to travellers.

Davidsons Lane at Moore Creek and Daruka Road at Daruka are both closed off.
Burgmanns Lane, which connects Duri Road to the New England Highway, is closed to traffic.
The road has water all over it, according to Tamworth Regional Council.
Tamworth has had more than 27mm of rain fall in the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) gauge at the Tamworth airport between Saturday and Tuesday morning, thanks to a very rainy weekend and a wet start to the week.
