Tamworth Regional Gallery hosted the adults-only event as part of its celebrations of being one of just a handful of venues across Australia to host the Happy Birthday Play School: Celebrating 50 Years exhibition.
Special guest Philip Quast – an ex-local and a longtime Play School host – regaled the crowd with a medley of dozens of songs from the show and risque tales from behind the scenes.

ABC local radio presenter Kelly Fuller interviewed Quast about what it was like flying by the seat of his pants as a presenter, back when editing was nothing more than “Action!” and “That’s a wrap”.
Friends of the Gallery put on a spread of wine and nibblies for the event.
The guests also delved into some childhood fun, making their own paper Rocket Clocks, as well as table centrepieces with the requisite patty cake papers, pipe cleaners and cotton balls.
The exhibition continues at the gallery until April 15.
