Lambis Engelzos AM is visiting the city as guest speak of Tamworth Legacy’s 70th anniversary gala dinner on April 7.
Mr Engelzos was responsible for discovering mass war graves for some 250 lost Australian soldiers from the disastrous Battle of Fromelles from WWI near Fromelles in France, where on July 19, 1916, Australian and British allied soldiers lost their lives at the small village.
He will share his experiences at Tamworth Legacy’s anniversary celebrations.
There are some local connections with Fromelles here in the North West, with descendants of those Diggers killed in the battle.
Legacy is a volunteer-run organisation that provides services to families of veterans who have died or given their health.
To help Tamworth Legacy celebrate its 70th milestone – and raise vital funds to allow the group to continue to help thousands of local families – you’re invited to the gala dinner on April 7 at Tamworth War Memorial Town Hall.
Tickets are $90 per head or $850 for table of 10, which includes drinks and finger food on arrival, and a two-course meal with wine. Bar service is also available.
There will be live auctions during the evening, along with music, entertainment and dancing.
To purchase tickets to the event, email Tamworth Legacy at admin@legacytamworth.com.au or phone the office on 02 6766 4372.
