On Friday, the Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service (TAMS) will host another event at The Youthie as it heralds a more collaborative approach to Indigenous health.
Erin Sutherland, TAMS access and support chronic disease officer, said it was about strengthening partnerships in the community and ensuring potential funding could be spread wider.
“We have a lot of overlapping funding, so instead competing against each other for rewards and targets, we’re going to try and work together,” Miss Sutherland said.
“There’s three or four services here today that actually roll-out the same program.
“The aim was to have two events back-to-back and have the services display a strong front and learn how to work together.”
The TAMS Close the Gap event kicks-off at 9am at The Youthie and will run until 1pm.
