THE Northern Daily Leader Country Music Queen Quest hopefuls took to the stage on Friday, where they received a warm welcome from crowds on day one of the festival.

In front of a crowd that had gathered at Toyota FanZone, in Peel Street, the 13 quest entrants received their sashes to be worn for the duration of the festival.
It was a sign the competition was well and truly underway, with the ‘Queen’ to be crowned at a gala dinner on the final day of the festival, Sunday January 27.

Another hopeful will take away the title of the country music princess.
But it is no easy feat, a judging panel will follow the group throughout the festival to determine their suitability to represent the city as an ambassador.
