Police said a barking dog disturbed offenders who gained access to the kitchen of a Petra Avenue house about 10.15pm, but nothing was stolen.
Another resident in the same street said she held her kitchen door closed around a similar time as offenders tried to force their way in.
When the woman screamed, the offenders fled the scene on foot, empty-handed.
Meanwhile, police said a woman was outside watering the garden of her Goonoo Goonoo Road property about 9pm on Monday, when she was broken into.
Offenders entered the house and stole a wallet containing a small amount of cash and cards.
