While the project is set to be complete by the festival opening in January, the public will get their first glimpse on Wednesday, when it opens temporarily to launch the lights on the new look Community Christmas Tree.
Mayor Col Murray said that he is “pleased to bring the festive event to the new look Fitzroy Street.”
“There are a few finishing touches still being placed on the Fitzroy Street project. We encourage everyone to come down and celebrate this wonderful time of year,” Cr Murray said.
The event will also feature market stalls, entertainment, kids activities, giveaways and even a special visit from the big jolly red man himself, with the area blocked off to traffic, starting at 6.30pm.
