The LALC have launched a survey, in line with their Opportunity Hub, that plans to get some real insight and data on what is, and importantly what is not bullying, as well as the how, what, where, when and why’s of the national issue.
LALC engagement officer Simon Taylor understands just how debilitating true bullying can be, but also believes that it can be “a buzz word”, and may even be used as an excuse in some situations these days.
“It is a social issue that we need to look at, the immediate impact is that kids aren’t going to school. We want to find out what is and what isn’t bullying, and break the data down,” Mr Taylor said. We don’t have to accept this behavior, so we aim to give the community skills to deal with it.”
The targeted survey will close at the end of July, with the results to be released, and used, to conduct two seminars at the TAFE on August 1 and August 15.
