10.40am: Police have released a media statement, confirming a 19-year-old woman died in the accident.
About 6.40am this morning, a Hyundai hatch was travelling south on Werris Creek Road, about 2km south of Duri, when investigations suggest the vehicle hit a duck which was on the road.
The vehicle then left the road, crashing into a tree.
Witnesses and police attempted to revive the 19-year-old woman, from Quirindi, but she died at the scene.
Forensic services are at the scene making inquiries.
Werris Creek Road has been closed in both directions while investigations take place.
Diversions are in place.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

It is believed the vehicle left the road.
Officers remain on the scene as investigations continue.
The Werris Creek Road remains closed from about three kilomtres south of Duri to Werris Creek.
The woman was the only occupant of the vehicle.
