Bradie Gray, 20, has been recovering in the Wyoming Medical Center since he suffered broken ribs, a bruised aorta and collapsed lungs during a rodeo in June.
In a post on its Facebook page on Thursday, the centre said he was expected to be discharged that afternoon.
“I’m feeling great,” Gray said in the post.
“Just ready to start healing and mending and get back at it.”
The family expects to stay in Casper for several days before driving back to Texas, where Bradie is a member of the The Odessa College Rodeo Team.
The family hopes to fly back to Australia in a few weeks.
“I just want to thank the doctors and staff, without them I wouldn’t be here,” Gray said via Wyoming Medical Center’s Facebook page.
“I just can’t thank them enough for everything they’ve done for me.
“All the nurses here are really good. I made a lot of friends here.
“Casper has been unreal, I can’t believe the town where I’m not even really known around here, but they all got behind me and just stuck behind me. It’s really special.
“I’d like to thank them for everything they did too.”
