The NSW government will give the community an extra 30 days to go through Santos’ 7000-page report on the environmental impacts of its Narrabri Gas Project.

It comes in response to the criticism of original 60-day exhibition period for the Environmental Impact Statement’s (EIS), with many saying to make an informed submission in time, an individual or group would have to read more than 100 pages a day. The Department of Planning and Environment said the community now had 90 days, until May 22, to make a submission.
“At 7000 pages, the EIS is a long, complex document and we recognise people need more time,” director of resource assessments Mike Young said.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the department will hold public consultation events in Narrabri, at the Crossing Theatre, from 630pm to 8.30pm.
Sessions will also be held in Wee Waa, Gunnedah, Coonabarabran and Coonamble.
