The popular Long Lunch event has been scrapped in favour of Downtown Magazine’s Dinner in White soiree, which will be held at a secret location.
“The Long Lunch has been a signature event for Taste Tamworth for some time,” council events coordinator Michaela Stevens said.
“We thought we might just change things up a little bit.”
Ms Stevens said it made sense to incorporate Downtown’s dinner into the festival, rather than having two competing events.
The white-night-out will be held on May 6, taking buses from the Tamworth Hotel to a secret location where revellers, all dressed in white, will be wined and dined on local produce, prepared by Swan Fine Foods catering.
Downtown editor-in-chief Anna Davis said the Dinner in White will be Tamworth’s answer to the French Diner en Blanc.
“We have given the men the exception of wearing black pants, jeans or beige pants, just because I didn’t think there were enough men in Tamworth who owned white pants,” Ms Davis said.
The pop-up bar will be a one-night-only event this year with 400 tickets for sale for an open-air function on April 28 on the lawns of the Tamworth Community Centre.
While there has been some changes it remains “a celebration of regional produce”. Tickets are available at tastetamworth.com.au
